Fred was a farmer with his brothers Henry and Edward. Fred farmed at Capel River, Dardanup. Brothers, Fred and Edward in 1854 finalized their purchase of 20 acres south-east from Payne's Mill on the Blackwood Road. Over the next few years they acquired more properties along the Capel River. They also established a home farm they called 'Rose Hill' but neither brother was to raise a large family there. Fred had one son called Edward. (ex Capel Shire Book)
Fred had 10 acres in 1855; 32 acres in 1856; 30 acres in 1859. He employed 7 TOL men in 1866-1871.
