Frederick William Scott Private 4535, 28th Bn., Australian Infantry, A.I.F who died on Friday 3 November 1916 . Age 28 . Son of C. F. and Sarah Scott, of Capel, Western Australia. Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Somme, France. Villers-Bretonneux is a village 16 kilometres east of Amiens on the straight main road to St Quentin. The Memorial stands in Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery, which is about 2 kilometres north of the village on the east side of the road to Fouilloy.

David Henry Scott and Ethel Downe: David enlisted with his brothers in WWI and sailed off to the trenches. He was the only one to survive. David used his discharge money and RSL grant to buy land on the Stirling Estate after his marriage.

Thomas Richard Scott: Tom attended the Capel Government School. His occupation was labourer when he enlisted in WWI. He enlisted in the army and sailed off to the trenches of France and was killed 15 months later. Thomas Richard Scott, Private 4536, 28th Bn., Australian Infantry, A.I.F, who died on Saturday 1 June 1918 . Age 26 . Son of C. F. and Sarah Scott, of Capel, Western Australia. Franvillers Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France, Panel/Grave: I. D. 14.

FRANVILLERS COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION


Franvillers is a village and district in the Department of the Somme, and stands on high ground above the River. The Communal Cemetery and Extension are south-east of the village. The Extension was used from April to August, 1918, by units and Field Ambulances engaged in the Defence of Amiens. There are now 200, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site.

Sarah HOUSE   and  Charles Frederick SCOTT.They took up land on the SE bank of the Capel River. The following year their infant son Edward died but from then on life improved and they were to produce seven healthy children.
