Information 1841 census, shows Lucy as a widow,   ref Jan Morgan

 
James Jeremiah Thomas bn Bexhill 1828, convicted of Stealing in 1849 and again in 1850 for
which latter offence transported.
His parents James Jeremiah and Lucy Gausden also bn Bexhill.
 

Not sure about the Heremiah, could be a verbal mistranslation as happened them days. Seeing that James and Margaret also named one of their children James Jeremiah, also J is next H on the keyboard
