As a school girl Kerri was a state athlete setting a 100 metres 13 year old girls state record. She represented the state twice in athletics. The Shire of Serpentine/Jarrahdale awarded her Junior Athlete of the year in 1977. She also competed at the South West Games at Capel with good results.
