She Emigrated With Her Parents, One Brother And Two Half-Brothers On The Ship "Parkfield" Arriving At Bunbury On 18 March 1841. Mary And Edward Were Married In The Dwelling House Of James Dory By George Eliot, Registrar. Witnesses At The Marriage Were James Hough And Susannah Maria Higgins (The Bride And Groom's Brother And Sister). Edward Pioneered The "Rose Hill" Farm With His Brothers Henry And Fred. He Was A Bunbury Farmer And Butcher. He Had Land In The Wellington District 40 Acres In 1856 And 40 Acres In 1867. He Employed 7 TOL Men 1866-1874 Including A Mason In 1874. He Moved To South Australia In 1874-1876 After His 1st Wife Mary Died. His Children George, Charles And Their Sisters Moved To South Australia With Their Father. George And Charles Rode Overland On Pack Horses. 'Indenture Of Release' 24 Feb 1877. To Edward Giles Higgins Of Ferguson, Farmer, From Richard Archer Fowler Of Dardanup, Farmer, The Sum Of 210 Pounds Being For Wellington Location 107 (20 Acres), Loc 208 (40 Acres), Loc 133 (10 Acres), Loc 138 (10 Acres). Witness Is George Robert Teede. (Richard Archer Fowler And George Robert Teede Are The Brother-In-Laws Of Edward's First Wife Mary.) 2nd Marriage. Annie Bennett Married In The Presence Of Annie’s Brother And Sister:- Charles Bennett, Potter Of Magill And Louisa Bennett (Annie's Brother And Sister). Ex Annie's Letters To Her Cousin Annie Eliza Higgins (Daughter Of Henry & Lavinia) Of Springfield Farm, Bunbury, W.A.. 7 Nov 1871. Annie Is 24 Years Old, She Has Learnt Dressmaking And Has Got A Sewing Machine And Is Getting On Very Well At Home. More Than A Year Ago Her Mother Met With An Accident, Dislocated Her Shoulders And It Became So Inflamed And Through So Much Suffering We Thought She Would Have Died. She Was Obliged To Go To Hospital. I Am Thankful To Say She Is Now Much Recovered Though She Will Never Have The Use Of Her Arms Properly Again. Aunt Maria's (Nee Bennett) Husband Has Been Heavily Afflicted For The Past 5 Years. 29 Feb 1872. Her Cousin Can Boast Of A Large Number Of Relatives In The Colony. Annie's Relatives In The Colony Are:- Her Mother Has 9 Grandchildren (Her Sister Sarah's 7 And Charles' 2). She Has 2 Aunts And 2 Uncles, 4 First Cousins (Three Of Them Are Married) And 10 Second Cousins. 17 June 1872. Aunt Maria's Husband Is No Better And Doctors Say Nothing Can Be Done For Him. He Is A Great Sufferer. Aunt And Mother Say They Must Really Come To The West To See What A Beautiful Country It Is When They Have Got A Thousand Pounds, Because They Will Want To See All They Can While They Are There, But Of Course I Cannot Tell You When That Will Be. ref Sheryl Knight
