Sergeant Albert Victor Thomas  MM 4921, 2nd Pioneer Battalion

Albert was listed as a carpenter on enlistment. He was 65kg and 178cm with brown hair and blue eyes.

Albert was awarded the Military Medal: During the operation on 3rd October 1918, incidental to the capture of the Beaurevoir Line, north of St. Quentin, this NCO (Sergeant Albert Victor Thomas) was with a platoon detailed to closely follow the advance and clear and repair the road through and beyond Estrees. Heavy shelling was encountered and after his platoon officer had been wounded Sgt Thomas took charge, reconnoitred the road, allotted the requisite tasks to parties in the sectors and supervised them till completed.
His coolness and apparent contempt of danger set a fine example to the men and inspired them to "Stick it" until a very arduous task had been completed, and artillery were able to move forward.

Signed J. C. Robertson Brigadier General, Commanding 2nd Australian Division.
